Abstract
The article analyses the role of public administration in shaping future cities, with particular emphasis on integrating climate neutrality and the protection of cultural heritage. It outlines the principal responsibilities of public authorities in implementing emission reduction strategies and adapting urban spaces, with a particular focus on land-use planning. Furthermore, it examines contemporary smart city technologies that enhance the efficient management of resources and the optimisation of energy consumption. The discussion also addresses the challenges of preserving cultural identity and safeguarding historic urban fabric in the context of spatial transformation. The study concludes with an overview of social participation mechanisms and potential administrative measures supporting sustainable city development.
